Anand Nicodemus, P.Eng, LSSBB, Lean Sensei

 

Anand Nicodemus is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) and a Lean Sensei (Teacher).   His portfolio of practice is spread across the globe over 28 years and he has spent the last decade applying Lean in Mission Critical Processes in Canadian public service organizations.

Previously, as  Head of Operational Excellence for one of the largest government owned enterprises in the world, Anand set up and operated the Lean & Six Sigma based Continuous Improvement System that enabled 22 Business Units and 15,000 employees to create value in excess of one billion dollars over a 4 year period during a period of economic downturn which diversified the government’s revenue sources during a national crisis.

Anand is passionate that Lean thinking and application can be a tremendous benefit to society as the world recovers from the Covid 19 pandemic.  His victories helping helping governments in critical periods to initiate Lean transformation has improved profitability, performance and morale.  He is optimistic that Lean Practitioners Canada will deliver tremendous value to society in the days ahead.    

Anand currently is the Global Lean Deployment Sensei at a Fortune 500 integrated Engineering, Fabrication, and Construction Company responsible for building worldwide lean capacity and capability.

Deborah Anderson, SCMP

Deborah is a senior SCMP – Procurement professional who has worked in the field for over 15 years.  Deborah has worked predominantly in the energy and utility industries with a focus on materials and inventory management, procurement and logistics.  Originally from eastern Canada, Deborah is trained and experienced in Lean management practices that she first learned in the automotive industry.  Deborah has excelled at applying Lean practices in her work as Manager, warehousing, and inventory with Enbridge.  Deborah is an accomplished professional with extensive Supply Chain and Procurement experience.  She also has excellent skills in team management.  

Dennis Colic

Dennis is a highly accomplished Operational Excellence and Information Technology Leader with extensive international experience delivering business improvement and success through the use of Lean best practices. With over 15 years of experience in the Financial Services and Information Technology industries, he has incorporated and practiced Lean in a broad range of business capacities; from Change Management, Service Delivery, Service Design, and Business Processes within fortune 100 organizations. Dennis has a proven ability to drive effective operational change through developing strong relationships, incorporating and introducing new technologies and methodologies, data analytics that deliver agile and responsive solutions within some of the largest of organizations. Dennis’ experience has given him the opportunity to work on some very large and complex projects; the following are some key highlights: • Mergers & Acquisitions Integration: FleetBoston Financial, CountryWide Financial, Merrill Lynch   • Divestitures: MBNA Canada, MBNA UK Card, First Data Financial   • Network Access Control implementation on over 1 million worldwide network data contact points • Achieved 40% incident contact reduction through process improvement and automation.

Lori Coon, P. Eng, PMP

Lori is a Professional Engineer and Project Management Professional (PMP) with a certificate in Lean Management from Mount Royal University.   Her lean journey began in the competitive automotive manufacturing industry in the early 90’s where she used lean philosophy, tools, and management philosophy.  The results witnessed on the shop floor, in the engineering department and company-wide illustrated the competitive edge achieved when all people see the waste in systems and work together to eliminate it.  She then applied her entrepreneurial, lean management and engineering skills to co-found a marine transportation company in the Eastern Arctic, rescued a tourism business and offered professional services in business consulting and project management.  Lori’s experience as a project manager is highlighted by integrating lean philosophy into capital improvement projects she has managed in a variety of industries including oil and gas, civil infrastructure, asset upgrades and product development.

Randy Henderson, P. Eng, CSSGB

Randy is a Professional Engineer and a Six Sigma Green Belt. His lean journey began in 1997 while studying for his undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering at Dalhousie University.  Randy’s career path took him clear across Canada working for organizations ranging from government institutions, to large corporations, and to small business. Randy has experience in Health Care, Supply Chain, Project Management, Quality, Energy, and Manufacturing.  Randy joined Lean Practitioners Canada while studying for a Lean Management Certificate at Mount Royal University.  Since joining the organization, Randy has practiced Lean in manufacturing and non-profit sector conducting value stream studies, facility layouts, standardized work, inventory stabilization, and problem solving projects.

Ash Khurana, P.Eng, SSGB

Ash is a professional Electrical Engineer who is certified in Six Sigma as Green Belt and Business Analysis with almost twenty years experience in the energy industry.  Ash has been an leader in IT, Procurement, and Business Development leveraging his analytical, problem solving and change management skills.  Ash’s keen ability to use his Lean skills has resulted in increases in productivity and development of tools and reports that have resulted in enhanced processes.  Ash is also a recipient of numerous excellence awards with Alberta Energy Board and BP Canada Energy to name a few.  Ash has been extremely successful at documenting processes that have resulted in increased operational efficiencies for organizations of all sizes.  More recently, Ash is working with a not-for-profit organization that provides disabled people the chance to sail by applying 5S and other Lean principles to increase their daily operational productivity and identifies strategic opportunities for growth.

Nino Mebuke, MSc, LSSBB, CMP

Nino Mebuke is a Lean Six Sigma and Change Management certified professional with more than 15 years of experience in developing, operating, and managing businesses and projects. She loves working in a collaborative environment where she can help people achieve personal and collective goals and make their workplace more enjoyable.  When living in Vancouver, BC, Nino started and ran her own business for eight years. During that time, she came to understanding that to make business successful and profitable, any operational goals should fully address customers’ requirements.  Nino completed with distinction the Lean Six Sigma program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. That was such an enlightening experience for her that she traveled to Japan to visit the Toyota plant near Nagoya and to understand the influence of Lean philosophy in the Japanese society. During the trip, she learned a lot about implementation of continuous improvement philosophy and tools at all levels of everyday life and in a manufacturing environment. Nino has leveraged her experience and knowledge of Lean Six Sigma on projects throughout a variety of industries: Education, Healthcare, Food Industry, and others.  Prior to her education in Lean Six Sigma, Nino earned a Bachelor of Science degree. This exposed her to working in genetic laboratories and taught her critical, independent thinking and the importance of being detail oriented. Nino is a member of ASQ, AME and an Advisors Team at Junior Achievement Company Program.

Suzy Moutinho, MBA, CPHR

Suzy Moutinho is a senior management professional whose career spans the railroad, telecommunications and energy industries, primarily in transformational roles in both operations and human resources. Suzy is currently working at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary in Human Resources. Prior to this role, Suzy leads the integration of a medium-sized acquisition at Gibson Energy. Suzy holds two bachelor degrees in Economics and Industrial Relations and a Masters of Business Administration from Queen’s University. In addition, Suzy has supplemented her work experience by attaining Mount Royal University certificates in Lean Management & Continuous Improvement and Supply Chain Management. Suzy is currently the Chair on  the Board of Directors with Youth Central Society and has been a board director since 2005 as a member on the Governance, Fund Development, and Strategic Planning Committees. Suzy is also trained and experienced as a grief support facilitator with the Alberta Health Services Grief Support Program since 2008. She has volunteered at Clear Water Academy at various community building events for the past 10 years. Suzy is also on the Finance Council at St. Bonaventure Parish.
